Results / Waunakee - Inaugural AFS - 75 Bird
« on: October 25, 2020, 04:48:38 PM »
Thanks to all that came to Waunakee this weekend for our first American Field Sporting event.  We hope that everyone enjoyed themselves.  We are working on finding a way to offer this a few times in 2021 as either a 75-bird or as a 100-bird (4 layout ) event if there is interest. I will be sending a survey to those that shot it for feedback via SurveyMonkey in the next week.  We hope that you will take a few minutes to check the boxes of what you liked about the event and what we can do better

Attached are the results and further information can be found on the scorechaser.com website.
Todd Stormer won HOA with a 66 followed closely by Steve Knoll with a 65.

Waunkaee has been working with the WSCA Board and the creator of American Field Sporting(AFS) for Waunakee to throw a 3 layout, 75-bird event.  I am very happy to report that we have been approved by WSCA/NSCA/AFS for 10/24

If you haven't shot AFS - please check out https://americanfieldsporting.com/ to see what it is all about.  There are short videos to get a taste of what it is about.

The simple description is:
- a mix of sporting, Fitasc, and super sporting.
- You will shoot singles and pairs.
- There are one-shot and two-shot singles
-Low gun is only required for AA & M class shooters (the line is the armpit)
-shoot the shells you want - (no-reloads)  1oz, 7/8, 1-1/8 - as long  as they are allowed by NSCA!
-Field refs that score for you and have been approved by AFS.
- field refs describe the birds and what pair you are on - no surprises!
-Only 1 show bird is allowed  (no pairs of any type)
- an "X" bird that is worth 2 points if broken on first shot and 1 point if broken on second shot and zero points if it is missed. if you break all 25 targets and the x-bird in one shot you can walk out with a 26.

It sounds more difficult than it really is. Once you shoot it, it makes perfect sense.

We will be shooting the Blue, White and Red Field Layouts.  All squads will start on Blue at the Northwest corner of our grounds and proceed  up the hill shooting a White and Red layout.  We have opened up some added ground on the far east side of the club to throw either the White or the Red layout out in the open.  Squads will proceed to Station 1 (Blue) every 45 minutes starting at 8:45 AM

$50 for the 75 bird event.  $5 Lewis is available.  Limited to 45 shooters and 5 person squads.

We will be using ScoreChaser.com for registration and will update this post once it goes live!

We hope to see you here to try this out and make it a staple at Waunakee in the future!

Waunakee’s annual Duck Flurry is this weekend 9/12 & 9/13  9AM to 4:30 PM.

This two-day event is an exciting, fun, and safe way to promote clay shooting sports with your friends, family, and hunting buddies that may not shoot registered.

Our goal for the event is to provide a fun two-man “team based” experience, like you would find out in the field or blind.

The 5-station course offers a the chance to break 100 different targets With 150 shells between you and your partner. Keep you plug in as we allow 3 to be loaded for each set. There are seven different event “classes” offered that cater to what shotgun you choose to compete with. (Open, pump, sxs, o/u, 20ga)

The first Duck Flurry Shoot was held in 1996 with 125 shooters – in 2019, the Flurry threw 323 rounds over two days! We hope 2020 is even greater.
We have a daily Grand Prize: Beretta A300 Shotgun each day.

Each paid entry is entered to win the gun, the drawing will be at the end of the day after shooting is complete - no need to be present to win. Each team will also receive 50 tickets at registration that can be used for the bucket raffles that are drawn daily. All prizes were made posible from our sponsors: Votex optics, rtic coolers, smokers, pelican gun cases and more drawn each day.

Now it's time to have some fun with you hunting guns!  The birds will be high in the air and you won't need to bring your buggy!  It would be great to see some more of our registered friends attend this year!

As in the past... this is a two-shooter 100-bird team based event, with full use of a hunting gun allowed (3 shell max capacity). $25 per shooter per entry.
We will have side game of Waun-a-Break and long bird as too.  Each will payout at end of day. Long Bird $10, Waun-a-Break $10 fun or $20 competition per shooter
We will have 5 shooting stations that will include a two high fork lift shots, our steel towers and our pit station. 20 birds per station for a chance to break 100 with you and your partners 150 shells.

5 Stations will include:
The timed "flurry" -type station with 4-birds launched at a time on a set interval once pull is called - better be able to load quick!
1 station with a white poison bird  - shoot her and loose all the broken birds from that set.

The program will be offering 7 different "classes" to choose from (Main, 20 ga/sub gun, SxS, parent/child, pump gun, man/women, Over Under) for a chance at winning a Flurry trophy.

There will be tons of prize giveaway's each day of the event.  You will receive entry tickets in to the 14 bucket raffles for each target that you and your partner break.  We have the bucket raffles drawn at the end of each day for  prizes ranging from cross-bows, to decoys, layout blinds, a yeti cooler, pelican hard cases, Vortex optics and many more quality prizes.  Each paid entry will also be registered for a chance at winning on of the two Beretta A300  shotguns that we will be drawing for at the end of each day from that days entry's.

Hope to see you there ........
